the collocation observation at Shintotsukawa VLBI Station
|
|
The term "collocation" here is to measure the relative position between a VLBI antenna and its adjacent geodetic control point (VLBI geodetic metal marker and/or GPS-based control point).
Because the coordinate values calculated in VLBI analyses are the reference
point of the antenna (the intersection of the azimuth axis and the elevation
axis), it can not be used directly for conventional survey methods. It
is therefore required to accurately obtain alternative point position's
coordinate values using VLBI results.
In collocation, a targeted geodetic control point need to be tied to its
adjacent VLBI antenna with high precision comparable to that of VLBI results,
and it demands a very sophisticated technique.

GSI has already performed collocation observations at three of its four VLBI stations, Tsukuba, Aira, Shintotsukawa.
